India reaches Champions Trophy Finals – to face Pakistan on Sunday

India has reached the Finals of the Champions Trophy by defeating Bangladesh comfortably by 9 wickets. It would be facing-off its arch rival and nemesis Pakistan yet again on Sunday. The earlier league match was won by India and is yet to be seen whether it would continue its dream run and claim the title yet again which it had won in 2013.

Being humbled by Bangladesh in the league match despite scoring 300 odd runs, yesterday India asked Bangladesh to bat first after winning the toss. Fans of Bangladesh had insulted the Indian Flag prior by creating memes which came under fire by the twitterattis who replied back by strongly condemning the action.

Bangladesh had a early setback by losing Soumya Sarkar for 0 when the score was just 1. Mohd Rahman joined Tamim Iqbal and he got out when the score was 31. Mushfiqur Rahim who joined Iqbal next did give some solid partnership and when Iqbal got out, the score was 154. After that, the wickets of Bangladesh fell on regular intervals though each and every player contributed with their bats. In designated 50 overs, the team managed to score 264. For India, Bhuvneshwar,Bumrah and Jadav took 2 wickets each.

India began its innings next and scored 50 in just 47 deliveries. Dhawan gave a quick fire start by scoring 46 in just 34 deliveries and when he fell, India was at 87. Virat Kohli who joined Rohit Sharma played the captain’s knock yet again and the pair played slowly in the beginning but did not fail to score runs as and when the opportunity came up. Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant century and he remained not out at 123 when Virat Kohli hit the winning runs. Virat missed a century this time since India has reached the score by then. He stood not out at 96 and faced just 78 deliveries.

Virat also created history yesterday by racing past 8,000 runs in fewer innings, the record which was held by AB Devilliers. While ABD took 182 innings to breach the mark, Virat took just 175 innings to score 8,000 runs.
