India registered a massive win against Pakistan today in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 match being played at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, England. India won by a staggering 124 runs. Many expected the results to go this way, as India batted first and scored a massive 319/3 in 48 overs. However, due to rains, the match got delayed. Consequently, the score had to be adjusted according to the Duckworth–Lewis (D/L) method, and Pakistan was asked to chase the revised score of 267 runs in 36.1 overs. This was an asking rate of more than 7 per over, so the probability of Pakistan winning the match was quite remote since the beginning. And the situation was made worse since the Pakistani side kept losing wickets, without getting anywhere near to the target or the required run rate.
On the other hand, India’s batting lineup had delivered tremendous performance, with Rohit Sharma scoring a massive 91 in 119 balls. He was on his way to score his hundred, but he was run out by Mohammad Azam. Virat Kohli scored 81 in just 68 balls and he was not out. Shikhar Dhawan and Yuvraj Singh also contributed to the score by adding 68 (65 balls) and 53 (32 balls) respectively.
