India Women Hockey Team Gears-up for Semi-final clash against South Korea in the 17th Asian Games
Incheon (South Korea), 28 September 2014: Riding on their inspiring 6-1 victory against Malaysia in their last Pool A match, the confident Indian Women Hockey Team is very much upbeat to take on South Korea in the semi-final of the 17th Asian Games 2014 to be played on 29th September 2014 at Soenhak Hockey Stadium in Incheon, South Korea.
India is all geared-up to repeat the success of the 2006 Asian Games in Doha when they outplayed South Korea 1-0 for the third position and won the Bronze medal. In 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, India was close to a win against South Korea in the league match but lost the hard-fought battle by 0-1.
With the strong performance in the Pool A league matches, where India blanked Thailand 3-0 and thumped down Malaysia 6-1, the Women Team is well-prepared and motivated to lock horns with the Pool B leader South Korea. Indian eves have been successfully converting attacks into goals and have proved in the match against Malaysia that the players have an ability to score goals in each quarter. However, both India and South Korea will play with full throttle to win the semi-final clash to reach the final of the 17th Asian Games.
Speaking ahead of the Semi-Final, Indian Women Hockey team’s Chief Coach Neil Hawgood said, “With the recent form of our players, we are very much confident to reach the final of the Asian Games. South Korea is a higher-ranked team, remained unbeaten in their Pool, but we have the players who can win the match for us. Our team has already shown that we can convert opportunities into goals and we will take forward this form to the next match. We are very much ready for the Semi-final clash.”
The semi-final match between India and South Korea will be telecasted live on Ten Sports and Ten HD at 1530hrs IST on 29 September 2014.
