Kalraj Mishra

Kalraj Mishra is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament (MP – Lok Sabha) from Deoria constituency in the State of Uttar Pradesh. He is one of the most senior leaders in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and one of its most loyal and committed members. He is counted among the leaders who have been responsible for BJP’s rise in the State of Uttar Pradesh. Kalraj Mishra has worked several years at the grassroots level and has risen through the ranks, holding key positions within the party as well as in State Legislative Council, State Legislative Assembly, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha. Over these years, he has gained unparalleled political experience, which he utilizes for devising key strategies for the party. He is a key think tank of BJP. He is a down-to-earth leader who believes in the welfare of the society rather than giving importance to his role or political stature.

Early Life and Education

Kalraj Mishra was born in Malikpur Saidpur, Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh) on July 01, 1941 to Ramagiya Mishra and Prabhawati Mishra. He completed his Masters in Arts (M.A.) degree from Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He married Satyawati Mishra on May 07, 1963.

Early Political Career

Starting 1963, Kalraj Mishra worked as a RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) pracharak for five years in Gorakhpur. His devotion and focus towards his work was noticed by senior Sangh members, who gave him a larger role, that of the organizing secretary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh in Azamgarh. He was given full control to handle the political workings in Azamgarh, a tough task that he successfully accomplished and emerged as an effective leader. His next big achievement came in 1978, when he was appointed as the National President of the All India Janata Yuva Morcha. Thereafter, his political career graph kept growing.

2012 – 2014 – Member, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly
May, 2014 – Elected MP, 16th Lok Sabha
27 May 2014 onwards – Union Cabinet Minister, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises

One of Kalraj’s focus areas has been the development of entrepreneurship among the country’s youth. He believes that developing entrepreneurial skills will make the youth self-reliant and enable them to contribute positively towards the country’s development.

Personal Pursuits

Kalraj Mishra likes to write and his articles on varied socio-economic topics have been published in English & Hindi newspapers and magazines. His other interests include reading, travelling, yoga, meditation, and spirituality.
