Indian start-up develops new AI-powered chatbot solution to answer complex cricketing queries

The virtual voice assistant by Roanuz is powered by advanced context-aware conversational capabilities and can respond in 300 milliseconds

Delhi, March 22, 2018: When Dhoni is playing again? How many matches has South Africa won while playing at home? Getting precise answers to complex cricketing queries will no longer be the forte of just commentators and statisticians. A feature-rich, intelligent bot API has been developed by an Indian Artificial Intelligence (AI) start-up that can mine relevant answers from statistical inputs obtained from every important international cricketing series and tournament.

Roanuz Softwares Private Limited has announced the launch of Cricket Bot API, bringing an advanced chatbot experience with its sophisticated conversational capabilities. This AI-powered virtual assistant, programmed to give context-relevant answers in both text and voice, is capable of executing near-real-time exchange, increase user self-service efficiency and deliver smooth conversational customer experiences.

Along with the Cricket Bot API, the company has also introduced the Cricket Fantasy API as part of its cricket API suite.

Roanuz, a Chennai-based AI company, has devised the Cricket Bot API with extensive data on cricket. The bot addresses an exhaustive set of information, from live and historical data on matches to player and team stats. The data-intelligent API covers info related to all ICC Men’s International matches from 2012, Indian Premier League, Big Bash League, Caribbean Premier League, Pakistan Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League, Ram Slam T20 Challenge, Tamil Nadu Premier League, Karnataka Premier League, Women’s T20I Tri-Series, Kenyan Premier League until date, Champions League T20 and Big Bash League to name a few.

“Having a wide coverage of relevant information, the bot has the ability to respond to different topics such as player profile, recent matches, player vs. team, team vs. team and live updates,” explains Anto Binish Kaspar, Founder & CEO, Roanuz.

The team at Roanuz has processed over 1.2 million balls (12,15,814 to be exact) until now, which means the API has been fed with approximately 5-million records as an input for the bot to answer questions related to modern-day cricket. This one-of-a-kind intelligent bot with analytical capabilities is taking around 1,500 milliseconds to respond at present, and this time is expected to dwindle to 300 milliseconds.

What makes this API unique? It is context-aware and uses AI to achieve the goal. Here is an example:

User: what is the batting average of Virat vs Australia in ODI?

Bot: 70.8

User: And in T20?

Bot: It is 98.3

When the user continues to question about T20, the bot understands that the question is related to Virat’s average batting score and replies specifically to it.

“We have extensive experience in AI-based solutions and have applied our knowledge to build a smart bot API for cricket. This readymade solution offers businesses an incredible chance to affix cricket knowledge to their app, chatbot or voice-assistant devices, and it is easy to integrate,” says Anto.

The Cricket Fantasy API, on the other hand, provides easy-to-use, readymade data for developers and creators of fantasy games that can be easily integrated into their platforms. Through this API, Roanuz has unleashed unprecedented possibilities for developers of fantasy games.

“Quality live data is the key for live interactions in any fantasy game. This kind of live interaction is a big hit with sports fans. With the right algorithms and tools, the game has the possibility to become a part of the sporting event itself. We serve this data on a plate. As easy as Ready, Set, Go. Furthermore, it is hassle-free for developers to collect and manipulate the data as per their needs,” says Anto.

The Cricket Fantasy API provides up-to-date information on player value, player credit value and player market value for the upcoming match and calculates players’ points for the live or completed matches too.

“Player credit value is a crucial factor for any fantasy game and so are user points. Fantasy gaming companies have dedicated teams to manually create player credit value for each player for every single match. And to update user points, the developers build their own software. Cricket Fantasy API is a fundamental part of this puzzle that uses AI to take care of both these aspects. Moreover, the automated process makes it error-free,” he says.

There may only be a small group of traditional players that play daily fantasy sports. However, Eilers Research shows that daily games will generate almost €2.3 billion in entry fees this year and continue to grow 41 per cent annually, thus reaching an astounding €12.8 billion in 2020.

“Fantasy sports has grown big in India – 7 million players, and the industry is all set to break records when it comes to engaging sports fans and testing their sports knowledge and skills. Estimations show that the country expects to reach 50-million users in the coming three years,” adds Anto.

Both Cricket Bot API and Cricket Fantasy API are powered by extensive data gathered by Roanuz for its cricketing solutions over five plus years.
