Indians had a good start this year and they dominated other teams as well in various tournaments. This has reflected in the list published by ICC mentioning the rankings.
The list has Ravindra Jadeja on the top. However Virat Kohli has maintained his fifth position. This is the latest ICC Test Rankings that got released today. Ashwin did better compared to his fierce rival Sri Lanka captain Rangana Herath who lost Top position and is now at 3rd trailing behind Ashwin.
Jadeja and Ashwin also maintained second and third ranks respectively in the all-rounders’ list. Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is still on the top but having the other two ranks sealed by Indians is a respite for the cricket loving nation.
In the batsmen’s rankings, Cheteshwar Pujara is the top-ranked Indian at the fourth position while Shikhar Dhawan has climbed 21 places to be ranked 39th. This is not his best ranking though.
Australia captain Steve Smith is placed at No 1 in the batsmen list followed by England’s Joe Root and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson.
The latest list also includes the first Test at Galle, in which India defeated Sri Lanka by 304 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series, saw other England players make notable gains. If India plays better in the remaining matches, it is a possibility of Indian players to scale up the rank further when the list is released later.
