The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation, which is responsible for ticketing for the Indian Railways, has announced that it will be launching a new ticketing application to facilitate faster booking and sale of tickets. The new app will have more features that shall help making the booking process faster and easier. The new app shall be called Rail Connect App and will be based on the next generation e-ticketing platform.
Passengers will be able to get all the services that they would have gotten earlier on the website. They can get details of trains, check their PNR status, make bookings, cancel tickets, check status of trains, etc on the new app. Also, the details of recently booked tickets will be retained on this app. The users can access this app with the same user id and password that they have for the website.
The new app seems to be in line with the BJP led Narendra Modi Government’s push for a digital cashless India. The IRCTC has often been criticized for having a slow and an unresponsive website, but the application promises to deliver a better experience to users and passsengers.
