Income Tax today raided over 20 locations in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai and Chikmagalur, including premises of former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna’s son-in-law VG Siddhartha.
The Coffee Day Square in Bengaluru, the headquarters of Cafe Coffee Day owned VG Siddharta, was searched.
VG Siddhartha is founder-owner of Cafe Coffee Day chain of coffee houses.
Siddhartha founded Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company Limited in 1992 and Managing Director since January 2015.
VG Siddhartha is son-in-law of SM Krishna who served as the External Affairs Minister in the Manmohan Singh-led UPA-1 government.
Krishna, who was former chief minister of Karnataka from 1999 to 2004, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earlier this year.
He broked his 50 year old association with congress. He has also served as the Maharashtra governor.
He had returned to state politics after stepping down as External Affairs Minister in 2012.
