Kashmir police has seized drugs worth Rs.300 crores yesterday in what is considered as one of the biggest hauls till date. The drugs were seized from a truck when it came from Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Initially it was estimated to be around 40 kgs with a worth of Rs.200 crores but later was increased to 66.5 kgs.
“So far, around 40 kilograms of narcotics have been recovered from a truck coming from PoK for the cross-LoC trade at Salamabad,” Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla, Imtiyaz Hussain said. He also added “We are carrying out thorough searches of the vehicles to ensure that no narcotic substance is slipped through.”
The drugs that were seized especially the heroin which seemed to be of high quality and could fetch Rs.5 crore per kilo in the international market. These were found hidden inside the wooden boxes and a resident of Chakoti in PoK has been detained pertaining to the case.
The investigations have begun in order to identify the people involved in this trade which seems to be having the free flow especially in the border areas. It is to be noted here that these drugs may well be supplied well within the country to the high value clients and only a few days back, with the arrest of a drug peddlar, some tollywood actors and director were summoned by the Enforcement Directorate to appear before them to testify on the case.
