The fight over control of JD(U) has intensified further, as the party has fired 21 leaders including a former minister. These leaders have been suspended from their primary membership of the party. An official communication regarding the same has been issued by JD(U) Bihar State president Vashistha Narayan Singh. The JD(U) state president said that the 21 leaders have been suspended due to anti-party activities. The sacking of 21 leaders comes after the recent removal of Sharad Yadav from the position of party’s leader in Rajya Sabha. It may be recalled that Sharad Yadav is not at all happy with Nitish Kumar’s decision to join the BJP and he has become a rebel since the time Nitish became Chief Minister with support from BJP.
Sharad Yadav has been criticizing Nitish in the public, something that has not gone down well with the party. This was one of the reasons why he was removed from the position of the party’s leader in Rajya Sabha. Sharad Yadav also claims that JD(U) is his party and not Nitish’s party. Earlier, Sharad Yadav had said that it was he who had started JD(U) and Nitish had only merged his Samata Party into it. However, it appears that things have changed over the years and now Nitish has control of JD(U).
