Newspatrolling: JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar may have surprised everyone with his agile strategy to join the BJP, but his troubles are far from here. It’s been just around 2 weeks since he was re-appointed as the Chief Minister of Bihar, but political pundits said that JD(U) may be heading for a split. The speculations started after JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav said that he will be launching a four-day tour of the state of Bihar. He said that he will try to assess the mood of party workers in the state and try to know if they are happy with the new political equations in the state. Sharad Yadav did not say anything about a split, but experts said that the tour may be a precursor for the impending split in JD(U). It may be recalled that Sharad Yadav has already expressed his disappointment with Nitish’s decision to join the BJP.
Indications about a split in JD(U) also come from recent statements given by Lalu Prasad Yadav. In a recent statement, Lalu said that the mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) is still functional since Sharad Yadav-led JD (U) is still in partnership with the RJD and the Congress. Sharad Yadav has announced that he will be touring Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Supaul, Saharsa and Madhepura. Meanwhile, the Bihar JD(U) said that the tour is Sharad Yadav’s personal efforts and the party does not have anything to do with it. However, sources close to Sharad Yadav have revealed that chances of a split in JD(U) are very high.
