Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and all opposition parties have called Jharkhand Band on November 25 against the CNT SPT Act Amendment Bill 2016 that was passed in the Jharkhand Assembly’s ongoing winter session.
In a joint press conference attended by JVM-P president Babulal Marandi; Congress state president Sukhdeo Bhagat, RJD president Gautam Sagar Rana and leader of oppostion Hemant Soren said, “The state will be brought to stand still on Friday except emergency service.’
The press conference was call after an all emergency meeting of opposition party at Soren’s official residenct at Kanke Road in the evening hours after the bill was passed through voting in a high pitched drama in assembly on Wednesday.
Marandi and Bhagat, Soren claimed that the ruling NDA combine of BJP and AJSU-P have labelled the passing of the bill as ‘unconstitutional’.
“Today’s date will be remembered as the darkest day of Jharkhand’s history. The government crossed the Laxman Rekha and is playing with the rights of adivasis and moolvasis without any discussion. Despite being in majority, the government used force to pass the bill unconstitutionally,” Soren said.
JMM has accused the NDA of using force by allowing outsiders on the floor. In a memorandum to the governor, JMM legislators claimed that “outsiders took control of the chairs of officers on the floor.
JMM sought Murmu’s intervention and requested her to investigate the episode by examining the audio and video recordings of assembly proceedings.
