- The first masterclass offered outside the US featuring approaches from Olin College of Engineering on “Experiential & Project-based Learning in Engineering Education: How to make it work”.
- Participants get a first-hand opportunity to witness the learning experience & environment and interact with faculty and students who are implementing project-based learning in the Indian context.
- The program was chaired by Prof MP Poonia Vice- president AICTE and Dr. SiddharthanGovindaswamy, BS, MS and Ph.D, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, Associate Professor, Olin College of Engineering, USA.
In order to bring Indian education up to date with world class standards, leading experiential learning institute, the J K Lakshmipat University conducted a Masterclass with Olin College of Engineering. Where the participants got a first-hand opportunity to witness a cutting-edge learning experience and environment and interact with faculty and students who are implementing project-based learning in the Indian context.
Prof MP Poonia Vice- president AICTE emphasized on providing students autonomy, time and space in order to improve the desired skills such as innovative, Decision making and problem solving skills. Technical education success rate is less than 50%, 30% of which found eligible for industries. Looking at increasing in dropout %, focus on teaching learning method need to be improved. He encouraged such pedagogy of project based learning. He appreciated what JKLU is practicing such pedagogy which currently our country demands.
Quality higher education for Indian citizens has long been a preserve of the few. More and more universities are bringing best practices to Indian learners who may otherwise be limited by the high cost of a foreign education. Olin College of Engineering is ranked No. 3 among undergraduate engineering programs in the USA according to US News. Hence, it is the right authority to deliver concepts for best academic practices for professional education said Dr. SiddharthanGovindaswamy, BS, MS and Ph.D, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, Associate Professor, Olin College of Engineering, USA.
Notably, the JKLU has been a pioneer in the field of learning-by-doing, exposing its engineering and MBA students to practical internships, simulations and laboratories to test concepts and ideas in the field of their professional stream. It is also one of elite institutions chosen to be part of the government’s Atal Innovation Mission, a flagship initiative of the NITI Aayog to promote innovation and entrepreneurship through industry-academia partnerships.
