A under-construction building in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh (UP) collapsed yesterday. The latest reports suggest at at-least five people have been killed and more twenty five are trapped in the tragic accident.
The rescue workers including army and NDRF teams have been working tirelessly to search the survivors. Today early morning, the team has a success as it rescued a three year old girl alive after almost twelve hours.
Officials believed that more than twenty five people must have been stuck under the debris of the fallen building. The rescue teams are taking help from gas cutters, cameras as well as earthmover equipment.
It was a six story building which was under construction in Kanpur’s Jajmau area.
A local Samawadi Party leader Mehtab Alam is reportedly the owner of the building. The police has registered a case against him. Mehtab is on the run since yesterday.
Reports suggest that the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) had served at-least three notices to the builders for permits. It seems that the building was standing at a weak foundation.
