Sacked AAP minister Kapil Mishra today visited the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) office and recorded his statement against AAP Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Mishra alleged that Kejriwal has been influencing the ongoing investigations in the Rs 400 crore tanker scam. The scam relates to the procurement of around 385 stainless steel tankers by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). The scam dates back to the time when Sheila Dikshit was the Chief Minister of Delhi. Mishra has accused Kejriwal and two of his aides of influencing the investigations and delaying it. It may be recalled that even Dikshit was examined by the ACB last year in August in connection with the case. She was asked to reply to 18 written questions.
Earlier, Mishra had accused the BJP of shielding Dikshit and now he claims that AAP is also doing the same thing. It seems ironical since the Kejriwal-led AAP government in Delhi had itself ordered a probe in the alleged scam in 2015. The report prepared by the fact-finding committee was submitted to the then Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, based on which an FIR was registered in the case.
