New Delhi, July 14 2016: 10th edition of USHA DGC Juniors Golf Championship 2016 witnessed determination and skill from the participants as Karan Pratap Singh surged to the top of the leaderboard in the Category A Boys’ section with a fine third round of two-under 70, even as overnight leader Sunhit Bishnoi struggled and was relinquished to third position.
Karan fired three birdies – on the 3rd, 11th and 14th holes while he dropped a stroke on the 12th. But this was good enough to put him ahead with a three-round total of 219 as Bishnoi imploded with a round of 80. Sarthak Chibber elevated himself to second spot. He began sensationally, with an eagle on the par-5 first, but had a rather up and down round otherwise and ended with a one-over 73 and an aggregate of 223.
The story of the day however was Bishnoi. He had a horrendous opening nine, with a bogey on the 3rd, a double bogey on the 4th and then a triple on the 6th and another two dropped shots on the 7th and 9th. He had another double bogey on the 10th but then a couple of birdies kept him afloat with a three-round aggregate of 224.
Harshjeet Singh Sethie kept himself ahead of the others in Category B with a round of 73 and an aggregate of 224, ahead of Raghav Chugh (230) and Aryaman Mahant and Eshan Sethi at 238.
Tanirika Singh (79) stayed ahead in Category A Girls with a total of 162 as five golfers qualified for the final round. Himadri Singh (170) topped the Category B girls, while in Category C saw Hitashee Bakshi stay ahead.
Vedant Sirohi (168) led seven golfers into the final round from the Category C Boys. Manjot Singh (144) stayed ahead in the Category D Boys, while Keya Kumar Badugu (199) led the girls’ section.
