Kerala becomes first Indian State to declare Internet as a basic Human Right



Kerala earlier this week has announced Internet as a basic Human Right becoming the first Indian State to do so. The state budget that was released has proposed internet to 20 lakh poor families under the subsidised rates to others.

The Finance Minister Mr.Thomas Issac said that the new gateway would be set up within 18 months at the cost of Rs.100 crores in partnership with K phone network.

It is worthy to be noted that Kerala is the first Indian State with 10% Literacy Rate. United Nations recommends internet as Fundamental Right to all the nations.
