First, Pakistan played the game of getting a mercy petition filed by Kulbhushan Jadhav, and to make it look even more authentic, now a Pakistan military court has rejected the petition. Experts said that it’s apparent that Jadhav was forced to sign the mercy petition, as it would prove that he was involved in some wrongdoing. Now, a Pakistani military court has rejected the petition, which too was expected, as it would give full power to Pakistan army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa to decide the next steps. However, Pakistan cannot execute Jadhav since a stay has been ordered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) after India approached the international body for justice.
Sources said that Pakistan army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa is now analyzing evidence related to the case and will be deciding the next steps soon. Jadhav’s mother has asked for the release of her son and that too is being looked into by Bajwa. It may be recalled that the ICJ had also asked Pakistan to provide consular access to Jadhav, but still Pakistan has not provided any such facility. Pakistan says that spies will not be allowed consular access.
