In strange turn of events after the Supreme Court’s order on the Lodha Committee, it seems Lalit Modi may make a comeback to Indian Cricket and shall rule by proxy. The decks have been cleared for his 22 year old son Ruchir Modi to become the President of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).
Ruchir Modi is a member of the Rajasthan Cricket Association as he has been made the President of the Alwar District Association.
The Rajasthan Cricket Association had called an Emergent General Meeting (EGM) to ratify all the reforms recommended by the Lodha committee to the Supreme Court. RCA deputy President Mahmood Abdi had chaired the meeting to ratify all the suggestions made by the Lodha committee. Lalit Modi, who is currently the President of the RCA, will not be able to continue as the President of the RCA and hence it is believed that his son may be made the RCA President. This will enable to Lalit Modi to rule through proxy.
The RCA’s was derecognized by the BCCI when it elected Lalit Modi as its President in May 2014. The RCA is hoping that it will be taken back into the fold of the BCCI with the new recommendations of the BCCI.
