Around 55 people were killed and at least 10 persons were in lightning in different incidents in Bihar, with the monsoon rain hitting the state on Tuesday.
Vyasji, Disaster management department principal secretary confirmed the deaths.
The principal secretary said that the government will provide Rs 4 lakh compensation to the next kin of the victims.
Deaths were reported from Nalanda, Aurangabad, Rohtas and Purnea.
Monsoon rains lashed Bihar from Tuesday evening with lightening and thunderbolts striking at regular intervals.
Four persons died at separate places in Aurangabad district on Tuesday, officials said.
The officials said victims died due to severe burn injuries caused after lightening hit them.
