Chester Bennington, the lead singer of rock band Linkin Park was found dead at his southern California home. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office, the death is appeared to be an apparent suicide sending shock waves to millions of the band’s fans worldwide. The death is being handled as the case of an apparent suicide said Coroner’s office spokesman Brian Elias who said that his office has been notified by the law enforcement agencies.
TMZ, the celebrity website had announced that Bennington had hung himself at his Palos Verdes home near the Los Angeles city.
The death prompted Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda tweeting “Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.”
The band is about to kick off the US leg of its World Tour from July 27th onwards in Mansfield, Massachusetts after the band’s last album “One More Light” was released in May.
Bennington was married twice and has six children. He was known for alcohol and drug abuse and had spoken openly in the past about his struggles in overcoming his addictions. His close friend – Chris Cornell, front man of Soundgarden committed suicide in Detroit in May.
Linkin Park first found success in 2000 with the album “Hybrid Theory.”
