Germany has witnessed a sharp rise in politically motivated crimes by foreigners as the data released from Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere indicated the grave situation.
He also termed these attacks as unacceptable.
The crime statistics suggest that around 3,372 politically motivated cases involving foreigner were recorded last year. This was a staggering jump of 66.5 percent from 2015.
These cases include criminal offences in the name of foreign extremists such as ISIS, or the outlawed Kurdish terrorists such as PKK.
Germany suffered series of terrorists attacks in 2016 with the deadliest being December’s assault on a Christmas market in Berlin, killing 12.
Germany has also seen a significant rise in the violence against its minority communities of Turks and Kurds since the political instability in Turkey. Overall, 41,549 politically motivated crimes were reported in 2016, a 6.6 percent jump from last year.
