Love yourself says, Diabetologis

February is the month of love when people across the world look forward to spending time with their loved ones and express love to their special one. First valentine used to be for couples but in 21st century people express their love towards friends, other close members and their pets. Similarly, A Leading Diabetes Centre in Mumbai Celebrates Valentine’s Month with A Unique Way by celebrating Sports day and with a message of Love yourself to all patients.

More than 200 diabetes patients participated at Annual Sports Day 2019 organised by Gadge Diabetes Centre on 10th February 2019. All diabetic participants excitedly participated in marble spoon race, potato race, throw ball, tug of war and much more. Gadge Diabetes Centre also organised free check-up for participants.

Dr Pradeep Gadge and team appeals each and every patient to love themselves on this valentine’s day. Drs urges all citizen to love yourself and engross in activity which helps them to stay fit and self-esteem.

Dr Pradeep Gadge, leading Diabetologist, Gadge Diabetes Centre says, “Sports can be your daily dose of rejuvenation. ‘True wellness’ is the wellness of the body, mind and soul. And sports can play a vital role in fostering this true wellness. Sport certainly has the ability to improve one’s mood and increase concentration. It can also help boost confidence and self-esteem.

Physical activity along with diet, medication and education forms the four pillars of diabetes management. Exercise does not only mean strenuous workout in gym; a simple walk for 30 min/day can be also considered as exercise. If done properly as advised, exercise will immensely benefit diabetics. Exercise not only helps to improve diabetes but also enhances quality of life.

“Sports help you rediscover your self-confidence, it helps you discover a capacity within yourself that you never knew you had. It empowers you to push yourself and take risks. Well, it’s evident that exercising and indulging in sporting activities have positive impact on diabetes. It is the cornerstone for the management of diabetes. Sport helps you get fitter, lose and maintain weight, and even boosts stamina. But that is not all. Sport can have numerous positive effects on one’s mental health as well.” Adds Dr Roshani Gadge, Diabetologist, Gadge Diabetes Centre.

Exercise is an important part of any diabetes treatment plan. To avoid potential problems, patient should check their blood sugar before, during and after exercise. This will show them how their body responds to exercise, which can help them to prevent potentially dangerous blood sugar fluctuations. It is always recommended to speak to your doctor before starting with any exercise or any physical activity routine
