Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said only genuine party workers who have fought against the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will get tickets to contest the Assembly polls in Gujarat. He responded when he was field the question whether the tickets would be given to those who have money and muscle background.
“Tickets will be distributed soon and only to genuine party workers who have fought against the BJP and RSS. Those who parachuted into the party recently would not be given tickets,” he said adding further “The BJP and Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) are scared of the outcome of the Gujarat assembly polls. You cannot hide the truth for long.”
He hoped that Congress which is out of the power in the State for more than 20 years will win this election due to various issues faced by BJP which included demonetisation, goods and services tax (GST), unemployment, alleged plight of farmers and healthcare and education among the others.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development model has failed said Rahul.
“This model did not help anyone, be it youth, farmers, small businessmen or shopkeepers. Only select 5-10 persons benefited from it,” he said and continued further saying “Modiji gives money to big corporate houses which control media. In Gujarat, six to seven friends of Modi are controlling the media. We know that Modiji is pressuring the media. Even some media persons have told me that they are scared.”
The questions were submitted beforehand by the party workers to the State Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki who read it out during the interaction with Rahul Gandhi.
