An anonymous bidder has agreed to pay $2,679,001 to have lunch date with Billionaire Investor and Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Warren Buffet. The ceremony which is been happening for the past few years has seen the winning bid almost at the time of closing. The auction was announced on eBay. The winning bid was from 41 other bids received and was lower than the record high bids during the years 2012 and 2016 where it reached the high of $2,456,789
The winning bidder can bring upto 7 of his friends to dine with Buffet at the Smith & Wollensky steak house in Manhattan where he/she can have a discussion including where Mr Buffet would be investing next. The proceeds from this would go to Glide, a San Francisco charity that provides food, health care and other services to the homeless.
Buffet through this annual program has so far raised $26.3 million in the past 18 years. Buffet is involved with Glide after his first wife became a volunteer prior to her death in 2004.
Glide’s annual budget is pegged at $18 million and provides 750,000 free meals, emergency shelter for 8,500 people, 2,600 HIV and Hepatitis C tests, and day care and after school programs for nearly 450 children.
