5th May 2015, Donington UK. With the final long haul event complete, the Mahindra Racing Formula E cars have already made their way back to Donington as they prepare for the next round of the season in glamourous Monaco this weekend. Both Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok have raced through the streets of the principality during their Formula One days and are relishing the thought of driving on a more familiar track for the seventh round of the FIA Formula E season.
Both Senna and Chandhok have been working hard with their engineers in terms of race strategy on the simulator.
The seventh round of the championship is set to be a continuation of Mahindra Racing’s progress throughout the season following further points last time out in Long Beach. Despite using a somewhat different layout to the Formula 1 circuit, the configuration for the Monaco ePrix will no doubt exude the same amount of excitement and challenge as the cars zip through this prestigious circuit.
The track’s signature 12 turn, 1.78 km configuration will feature infamous corners like Tabac and the Swimming Pool, as well as a new tight and tricky hairpin as the cars stream toward the harbour front.
Senna, whose family name is synonymous with the circuit and who has made the principality his home said, ‘I love racing in Monaco, I think everyone does. The track is different to the Formula One circuit we all know but I think it’s still going to be a great show for the fans. There are some new challenges which we’ll have to learn on Saturday morning but overall I think it’s going to be a fantastic event.’
Chandhok added, ‘As we head in to the second half of the season we are working really hard and focusing on stopping the slump we’ve had in North and South America. It’s been a tough few races but we have an understanding of what we need to address and will be doing that in Monaco. This is a track that almost everyone on the grid knows well so it’s going to be a really close race.’
