According to the election commission, the number of new voters across the state has increased by 60 lakhs and counting. In order to warm up the modern crowd for the upcoming voting and to raise the voter awareness in general, Millennium Voters 5K Run/Walk 2018 is being organised this Sunday, February 25, 2018, in Malleswaram, Bengaluru.

The event, which is expected to clock a participation of more than 5,000 people, has already witnessed good response in terms of registration and the organisers are expecting large crowds. The event is being organised by Malleshwaram 5K Run foundation and Namma Vote Foundation.

Dr. Shashibhushan M R, Founder of the Namma Vote Foundation said, “It will be these first-time voters who can bring change in the way city votes. We want to mobilise most of them through the Sunday event. The event focuses on convincing new voters about the importance of choosing the right person who can be the face of change in the society” he added.

Malleswaram MLA Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said, “These kind of awareness walkathons are the need of the hour and should be organised in each constituency in association with NGOs/organisations, which will definitely impact in raising voter awareness as Bengaluru is often blamed for low voters turn out.” He added.

Assembling venue for the run/walk event will be Malleswaram playground whose door opens at 6 AM. It will be followed by a warmup session from the pinkathon Zumba instructor Krishna Arun (Krish). The 5K run/walk starts just after the warmup session.
