“Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi instead of making cashless, the BJP-led NDA government made its own existence baseless,” said West Bengal chief minister and TMC supremo during joint press conference of oppositions.
Banerjee asked the Modi to resign stating that he had promised if the cash crunch situation does not improve in 50 days from demonetization, he would personally answer for it.
She also stated that the Central government should have taken the parliament into confidence before taking such a major step like scrapping of high denomination currency notes.
“Will you resign as the PM, if things don’t stable in 50days. The deadline is coming to an end. Your move has taken the country 20years back,” Banerjee said.
She also asked the BJP about the promised ‘atche din’ (good days). “Is this the atche din you all were talking about,” said TMC supremo.
Addressing the joint press conference Congress vice president left no stone turns to target the Indian Prime Minister.
He referred to the alleged list which names several political leaders who have been allegedly bribed by major industrial houses. The list also mentions Sheila Dixit, former Delhi CM.
Gandhi said, “Sheila ji is ready for a probe, why is the PM not ready for a similar probe?”
The joint meeting was called by Congress President Sonia Gandhi which was expected to be attended by major opposition parties.
Talking on the absence of other parties Banerjee said, “Some political parties had other pre-planned engagements due to which they could not attend the joint meeting. But for future we will all work in a common agenda.”
