Suspected CPI-Maoists rebels, torched a forest-department hut and a jeep on late Friday at Tadwai mandal district of Andhra Pradesh.
However, senior police officials believe the act could had been carried out by tribals. “We are investigating the incident in all possible angles,” said Mulugu ASP Vishwajit Kampati.
Police said, at the time of the inciden two forest-watchers Gandarvula Ravi and Gandarvula Sammaiah, were sleeping a hut adjacent to the one put in flame by Maoist-rebels.
Kazipet wildlife DFO Purushotham told the media that a jeep used by the department was set on fire.
Maoist rebels had left a letter at the incident site. According to the recovered letter, the outlawed outfit demanded the government to stop Operation Green Hunt immediately, open cast mining and withdraw Tiger Zone proposal.
The letter issued by Karimnagar-Khammam and Warangal secretary Damodarji.
A case has been lodged under IPC under IPC Sections 147, 149, 436 and section 3 and 4 of PDP Act and section 13 of UAPA Act, 1967 against Damodar and other unidentified persons at Eturunagaram police station.
