India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) today launched an upgraded version of its hatchback Celerio, which would be available in the range of Rs 4.15 lakh and Rs 5.34 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The first version of Celerio was launched in 2014 and it featured auto gear shift (AGS) technology. Celerio has been quite popular, as can be seen from sales that has already crossed the 3 lakh mark in less than four years. Speaking about the launch of the upgraded version of Celerio, Senior Executive Director Marketing and Sales R S Kalsi said that Celerio has witnessed a high growth rate of 19 percent since it was launched in 2014. He said that the company has been continuously tracking inputs and feedback provided by consumers, based on which, new features have been introduced in the upgraded version of Celerio.
The upgraded Celerio features changes to its interior and exterior design. It has also been designed to meet new car safety norms. The new features include a sporty mesh grille with chrome finishing, redesigned front bumper, new fog lamp bezels, redesigned rear bumper and new tailgate. Changes have been introduced on the insides as well. The interiors feature improved upholstery and new designs on the door panel. The engine remains the same, but a new option of 5-speed manual and AMT (AGS) gearbox has been provided. Car buyers can also opt for a factory fitted CNG kit. From safety perspective, the upgraded Celerio features improved safety features that meet pedestrian, offset and side impact regulations.
