Mentally ill brothers tied to pole , thrashed on suspicion of child theft

Two mentally challenged brothers in Odisha were thrashed by locals who suspected them of child theft in Baripada city.

Among two mentally challenged brothers one of them is a minor.

According to Odisha post , the incident took place after the brothers left their village to head to a neighbouring village.

However they lost their way and ended up Baripada’s Laxmiposhi Battalion chhak.

Baripada locals came across the two boys and suspecting them of child theft and started asking questions.

Since the brothers were mentally challenged and not able to provide satisfactory responses.

This led to the locals tying them to a pole and thrashing them.

The boys father who heard about this incident and rushed to the scene too was beaten by locals.

The situation became normal after police reached the spot and rescued the boys.

The boys were sent to a local hospital for treatment.

The boys father has filed a complaint and investigation has been launched.
