Badrinath is one of the Char Dham of India. On Friday more than 1,500 travelers got stuck at numerous locations in Chamoli region as gigantic landslide jammed Badrinath – Rishikesh road.
The landslide left national highway broken and it happened in Hathi Parvat yesterday. So far no reports are aired on harm to pilgrims.
Tripti Bhatt, Superintendent of police of Chamoli said that landslide had left many pilgrims stuck.
Near Badrinath many ashrams, hotels and other institutions are available and these all arrangements have the capacity to give stay more than 1 lakh travelers. At Rishikesh many automobiles have also been halted to go forward, it will be again resumed when the highway will be ready for vehicles, she added.
Ashish Joshi, District Magistrate told some 1,800 pilgrims got wedged. He also said the preparations have been developed to ensure stay and foodstuff to the stuck travelers.
Vinod Sharma, Garhwal commissioner started for Chamoli to understand the nitty-gritty of incident.
Border Roads Organization said that landslide developed fragments on the road and it will take Saturday night to get the traffic in normal condition.
