In a deadly road accident in Etah district of Agra division, more than 20 school children have been reported to have died when their school bus crashed into a truck on the Etah-Aliganj road. Among the others who died includes the driver of the school bus.
There could be more causalities, as several more kids in the bus have reported to be critically injured in the terrible mishap that occurred today morning near Asadpur village in Aliganj. There were a total of 66 children onboard the ill-fated school bus. All were kindergartners of JS Public School Aliganj
As per information provided by District Magistrate of Etah, Shambunath, the collision took place because both vehicles were travelling at a high speed in low visibility conditions caused by dense fog. The truck was going towards Delhi from Dewaria, and it appears that it lost control, as the driver failed to see a curve due to dense fog present in the area. After colliding with the bus, the truck fell into a ditch by the roadside. The truck’s driver and cleaner have survived the accident.
The accident was massive, as some of the bodies of children were found mangled beyond recognition. Officials had to look into the identity cards of children to establish their identity. The rescue team had to use gas cutters to remove several of the bodies from the bus.
