Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who was on an indefinite fast, has ended his fast today after no fresh incidences of violence were reported in the state. It may be recalled that Chouhan had gone on indefinite fast to broker peace with the farmers and he had said that he is willing to give his life for the benefit of farmers. Now, that peace seems to have returned in the state, he has ended his fast. At the time of ending his fast, Chouhan was given a glass of coconut water, which signified the ending of his fast. The glass of coconut water was given to him by former state Chief Minister Kailash Joshi.
Prior to ending his fast, Chouhan said that no fresh incidents of violence have been reported, neither yesterday nor today, which is why he is ending his fast. Chouhan also announced that everyone involved in the killing of farmers will be severely punished. The CM also met various farmer organizations today and assured them that their demands would be looked into. The farmers are primarily demanding loan waiver and better prices for their produce.
