Today C Vidyasagar Rao governor of Tamil Nadu called Palaniswami to be the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He is a four time MLA from Salem and was nominated by AIADMK’s VK Sasikala to head the party after Supreme Court’s verdict in a 21-year-old corruption case against her. After the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalitha, AIADMK has been witnessing a power struggle between Sasikala and Chief Minister O Panneerselvam as he appalled against her last week.
Sasikala re-welcomed relatives Dinakaran and Venkatesh into the AIADMK, in past they were barred by the late CM J Jayalalithaa before leaving for Bengaluru to capitulate on Wednesday.
K Palaniswami met governor Rao in the evening, claiming that he was chosen government party leader totally and carry support of 124 MLAs. AIADMK sources said the 124 MLA’s were with Palaniswami and elected the Government party’s Chief after Ms. Sasikala was convicted in the corruption case by Supreme Court.
