The International Champions Cup Singapore friendly tournament that took place yesterday saw Bayern Munich defeating Chelsea in a toughly contested match. The final scores read as 3-2. Bayern had an upper hand over the rivals due to the brilliant double scored by the German winger Thomas Muller.
Bayern was defeated miserably by AC Milan for a sore of 4-0 in Shenzen last week but raced to 3-0 within 26 minutes of the start of the game against Chelsea.The first goal was struck by Rafinha in the sixth minute followed by two more goals by Muller on 12th and 26th minute.
Chelsea which adapted a 3-4-3 formation looked vulnerable yesterday which was thoroughly used by Bayern.
Chelsea had been completely outclassed but managed to comeback after the firt half when Marcos Alonso Marcos Alonso latched on to Victor Moses’ low cross from the right and beat Tom Starke with a low, crisp shot. The replacement David Luiz also had the opportunity to go closer to goal area and hit was deflected and hit the base of the post in the 72nd minute. There was another attempt on the goal on 86th minute and this time it was Michy Batshuayi who tried a penalty corner but was not successful enough in converting it into a goal.
The match that took place in Singapore was witnessed by 48,500 fans in the jam packed Singapore Nationa Stadium.
