MultiFit to sponsor athletes in order to encourage fitness and athletics
21st July 2016, Pune
With an aim to promote athletes in India to reach new heights MultiFit, a Functional Training based gym in Pune, has sponsored noted cyclist Chaitanya Velhal’s attempt at competing in the world’s toughest race and winning the coveted title of Ironman. The Ironman Triathlon is to be held in Zurich on 24th July 2016. It requires the participants to swim 3.8 kms, cycle 180 kms and then run 42 kms within the span of 15 hours without rest in order to claim the title of Ironman.
In the words of MultiFit’s CMD Samir Kapoor, “India is a country where sportsmen who pursue any sport other than cricket or football have a tough time getting support in following their passion.
I believe that it is time that we start appreciating talented athletes around us. As a fitness enthusiast myself I am doing my bit towards bringing about a change in our country’s perception of sports.”
“It pains me that with a population of approximately 127 crore India is yet to make a mark in the global athletic scene. The best example is right in front of us, this year Chaitanya is one of the only two Indians participating in the Ironman, Zurich. Most of the sports- persons give up on their fields due to lack of support; both mentally and monetarily. We at MultiFit believe in instilling fitness as an essential part of the Indian society and as such will be open to sponsoring other athletes in their future endeavours as well.”
MultiFit provides non-conventional workout techniques such as Calisthenics, iFIT and Paleolithic Workouts. It also has instructors who train in Boxing, MMA and Jeet Kune Do. MultiFit is opening branches in various parts of India to promote fitness and wellbeing in the country.
