Mumbai Indians entered its fourth IPL Finals by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets in Bengaluru yesterday. They will now face the debut team Rising Pune Supergiants on Sunday in the Finals.
Having asked to bat first, the KKR was bundled or a mere 107 runs. Karn picked 44 wickets for just 16 runs and he managed to bag the crucial wickets of Gambhir, Jaggi, Narine and Grandhomme which came as a blow to the former champions.
With a low score to chase, the MI reached the score by losing just 4 wickets. Krunal Pandya scored an unbeaten 45 steering the team to victory. They chased the target in just 14.3 overs.
Earlier KKR lost 3 wickets during the power play and could manage to score just 25 runs. Bumrah did the initial damage by securing 3 wickets by conceding just 7 runs. Unless Ishank Jaggi and Suryakumar Yadav had scored a 56 runs partnership for sixth wicket, KKR would have bundled out for one of their lowest ever scores. Ishank scored 28 and Suryakumar scored 31.
Mumbai Indians had a nightmare initially as well when they lost 3 wickets with a score just hovering around 36 in 3 overs. Rohit Sharma, skipper of MI scored 26 and he along with Krunal Pandya managed to build a partnership of 54 runs.
