Mumbai received 300mm rainfall flooding roads, railway tracks. Air traffic was also badly hit.
Tuesday’s rains were the heaviest the city witnessed since 26 July, 2005.
At least 500 people were killed then.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people of Mumbai and surrounding areas to stay safe and take all essential precautions.
He also assured all help to the government of Maharashtra.
Central railway has also resumed services from Kurla to Dombivali.
Dabbawalas won’t operate today as they were not able to collect back lunch boxes which they delivered yesterday. Also, all educational institutions and many offices are closed today .
Metro rail services also functioning normally between Andheri and Ghatkopar. BEST is operating extra buses from CSMT towards Thane via eastern free way on Routes C8 and C42.
