Supreme Court is yet to hear the case on Triple Talaq to end it and now news has emerged that some of the Muslim women were seen chanting Hanuman Chalisa in Varanasi. They said they are doing this in order to get rid of the custom which has affected hundreds of Muslim women invariably.
One of the women, Shabana said “We are praying to Hanuman-ji to get rid of triple talaq, which is a trouble for us. We are praying so that the decision is taken in our favour. Everybody is same. We on earth have divided people. Ishwar, Allah all are same”.
Nagma, another woman said “I want my husband to be punished so that other men think twice before doing so” as she was denied alimony money after being divorced which would have helped her in getting her daughter married.
“The victims of triple talaq have faith in Hanuman-ji. They are in a very bad shape. In such a situation, they have prayed before Lord Hanuman that the Supreme Court ends this custom of triple talaq. May Lord Hanuman protect them,” the temple priest said.
Shayara Banu has created history by being the first petitioner to challenge the Muslim personal law that sparked the fight amongst Muslim women against triple talaq (talaq-e-bidat), polygamy and nikah-halala which has kept them subdued for years. It is also to be noted here that PM Modi has requested public as to not to make this issue religious.
