Breakdown of government machinery and regular criticism in dealing with the reservation issue, the Nagaland chief minister T R Zeliang resigned on Sunday.
It is also believed that Zeling has bowed down to the opponents of reservation for women in urban local bodies.
Zeling has called an emergency meeting of his party members, Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Monday to announce new chief minister.
T R Zeiling’s office issued two decisions during the late hours on Sunday, first about resigning and second about submitting the resignation to governor P B Acharya.
T R Zeliang said that central leaders and few groups have received suggestions that Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio should take over the CM position of the state.
