Newspatrolling: Nandan Nilekani is back for a second innings at Infosys. All this while he was working in the background to clean up the mess at Infosys, but now, he has officially been appointed as the Chairman of Infosys. It may be recalled that Nandan Nilekani was one of the co-founders of Infosys. Nandan Nilekani has been appointed non-executive, non-independent director and the Chairman of the Board of Directors. His new position will be applicable with immediate effect. Before Nilekani was appointed as the Chairman of the Infosys Board, his predecessor R Seshasayee tendered his resignation. The resignation has been accepted by the Infosys Board. For Infosys, it was an experiment to induct an independent board and a professional CEO, but looking at the way things have turned out in recent times, the experiment seems to have failed.
The appointment of Nilekani as the Chairman of Infosys is expected to bridge the gap between executive decisions and the values and beliefs of the founders. Nilekani’s appointment will also help restore investor confidence and check the falling share prices. “I am happy to return to Infosys, now in the role of non-executive chairman, and look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board and in executive management on the business opportunities we see before us and delivering benefits to our clients, shareholders, employees and communities,” Nilekani said.
