In one of the major catch, Narcotics Control Bureau has arrested one Bolivian and two Nigerian nationals and seized 2.5kg Cocaine whose estimated worth in the international market is pegged at Rs.25 crores.
The NCB team got the hint and followed one Ms. Maria Laura B. Zabala (24) after she arrived in the Capital on June 12 from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and tracked her moments. When she was met by two other men in central Delhi’s Paharganj, thy were intercepted.
“The men confessed that a Nigerian man based in Bolivia had asked them to pick up the consignment and deliver it ahead,” said a senior NCB official who added “Three people, including the woman, have been arrested under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. Three packets of cocaine weighing 2.5 kg have also been seized.”
The woman who was used as a courier was contracted for USD3,000 for the delivery. The arrested Nigerians were staying in India with fake passports and visa, said the officials triggering a wide debate on the nation’s security which is plagued with terror attacks every now and then.
The NCB is continuing its probe further to find out more information on the drug trafficking and whether they were a part of wider network since the value of the seized drug is huge.
