Nemam Panchayat to become open defecation free

On the occasion of the World Environment Day, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Limited (HCCBPL) has announced that they will undertake to construct Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) in households that doesn’t have proper sanitation facility, at the Nemam Panchayat of Thiruvallur District.

The initiative by HCCBL is aimed at facilitating the panchayat become “Free from open defecation” and thereby obtain “Nirmal Gram Puraskar”, Prime Minister of India’s Award for Open-Defecation-Free and Clean villages. 

The program would facilitate Nemam village to become 100 percent sanitized in a record time with each household possessing own sanitation units, thereby reducing water-borne diseases and improving the potable water quality. The construction of the IHHLs is to be carried out by HCCBPL in association with World Vision India (NGO) and District Rural Development Agency – Thiruvallur.
