New Delhi : Action soon on traffic management on 28 Delhi Road Corridors



In the national capital – MG Road, Mustafa Kemal , Shantipath- RTR Marg , Vikas Marg , AtatUrk Marg are among the 28 corridors that are going to be developed as model roads with proper sysptems in place for smart traffic management.

Senior  Traffic Police Officer stated that the other road corridors of Delhi which includes IGNOU Road , Outer Ring Road , Kalindi Kunj Road , GT Karnal Road , Sardar PatelMarg  will also be considered in the list for works on mangement of traffic

These corridors were identified on the basis of the recommendations of six task forces, that were constituted by Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal.
Immediate action for traffic management will be taken on the 28 priority corridors which fall under A category

He said “The southern range has the maximum corridors with nine, followed by seven corridors in outer traffic range, four in western and eastern, respectively, three in central and one the northern”.

Aurobindo Marg, MathuraRoad, Chirag Delhi and Mehrauli – Badarpur Road are the four roads will be focused upon as part of pilot project ,24 others will also be developed sequential.

Delhi roads have been divided in three categories – A,B and C –  consisting of 77 congested corridors by the six task forces formed for traffic management in January.

 The A category consists of those roads that have high volume of traffic, affect more people and where the traffic issues can be addressed in lesser time, said an officer.All these roads should have smart management of traffic system.

Any  illegal parking will also be removed on these corridors.
