New Delhi: It is believed to have approved a bill, proposing amendments to the existing Motor Vehicles Act, to replace an Ordinance brought out last year for enabling plying of e-rickshaws in the National Capital according to goverment sources.
The Cabinet approved Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill to be tabled in the upcoming Budget session of Parliament. On, December 18, 2014 the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2014 was passed by Lok Sabha and on December 22 again act was introduced in Rajya Sabha, for passing and consideration. But, the bill however, not able to taken up for discussion in the Upper House.
On December 24 approved of the Ordinance to pave the way for plying of battery-operated three-wheeler vehicles or E-rickshaws, had went off from rides after banned by Delhi High Court ,their plying in July on safety concerns.
This latest Act will be in practices in six advanced nations – the US, Canada, Singapore, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom. The new law will provide a transparent system and corruption free nation with a proper record of driving licences.
