The RBI has announced that it will soon release new Rs 10 notes in the market. The new Rs 10 notes will have superior security features to eliminate the possibility of duplication and fake currency. According to a RBI notification, the new notes will be in the Mahatma Gandhi series-2005. They will sport the letter L on both number panels. They will have the signature of Governor Urjit Patel.
The year of printing, 2017, will be printed on the reverse side of the new Rs 10 notes. The numerals on the notes, both on the front and reverse side, will be in ascending size, from left to right, just like the new Rs 500 and Rs 2000 currency notes. However, the size of the first three alpha-numeric characters (prefix) will remain constant.
The RBI also said that old Rs 10 notes will continue to be valid and in circulation. So, there’s no need for people to worry if they have old Rs 10 notes with them.
