On Thursday,The National Green Tribunal ordered public sector oil companies to stop working for BS-I and BS-II vehicles for transporting petrol or petroleum products in Delhi.
Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar directed Indian Oil Corporation Limited , Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum to ban such vehicles on immediate basis.
NGT also directed the joint commissioner of police to ensure the compliance of the order.
Notices to the oil companies have already been issued last year in December and asked them to inform whether they use any diesel vehicle more than a decade old to fuel stations.
