India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) will be probing the sabotage angle in the recent train derailments accidents of Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur and Andhra Pradesh’s Kuneru area.
The Home Ministry of India has directed the NIA to take over the cases as the conspiracy theories started prevailing for the reasons of such accidents.
The NIA team did inspection at Kuneru site in Vizianagaram near where the Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express derailed from the track. The NIA is probing the case after railway suspected an “act of terror”. During the Saturday’s derailment, 39 people died and hundreds injured.
The agency will also look into the role of Pakistani intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in such derailment cases. In November also, Indore-Patna train derailed near Kanpur, killing around 150 people.
The Bihar police arrested three persons whose claim about the involvement of ISI in the derailment has caused stir in the Indian investigating agencies. In the preliminary probe, the NIA has rejected the claim of ISI’s involvement in the accident; however Saturday’s derailment has led to the rebirth of the controversy.
The Bihar police arrested three people in connection with the Rail accident, and they claimed that Rs 3 lakh was paid to them for planting IEDs at Ghorasahan railway station on October 1 last year. These people also claimed that they were employed by the ISI. It was also reported that they confessed for their involvement in the derailment.
