National Investigation Agency which is being on a hunting mode to unearth illegal money being used to fund terrorist and other illegal activities has carried out searches at 27 places in various parts of the Valley and Delhi which has resulted in the seizure of nearly Rs 2.2 crore in cash in raids. The probe is in with relation to probe into terror-funding activities in the state.
The search that began in the morning went on throughout the day where the houses and business establishments of those suspected of channelising funds to fuel secessionist and anti-India activities were searched, said an NIA spokesman.
“During the searches, cash amounting to approximately Rs 2.2 crore were recovered,” he said.
The spokesman said various digital devices including laptops, mobile phones and hard drives have also been seized during the searches and the data that is being stored on those gadgets would be evaluated to ascertain as to what kind of information has been stored in them which can be helpful in ascertaining some crucial information pertaining to the activities which can effectively be addressed and curbed.
